I am at a party talking to Saila who has just learned that she has a chronic physical condition with which she will be living for the rest of her life. She sees someone and goes to talk with them for a while and I wander around the party until I see a guy who is a friend of mine but for whom I have a very strong attraction. He's talking to another mutual friend about his relationship with some girl he's been dating and I join the conversation. The friend leaves to get a refill of his drink and I ask the guy what would the two of us do if we both found ourselves without a significant other at the same time. He looks at me blankly, oblivious to the fact that I have an attraction to him. I am tempted to spell it out for him but I just walk off disgusted and disappointed.
