I am packing, getting ready to visit with Saila for an extended time. She wants me to see Finland, to really get to know it. I am with Saila shopping for food. She is trying to teach me the way to get the best foods in nearby shops. She wants me to get acclimated, to know how to find my way around, so that I will be more independent. I am back at home, packing my bag thinking I am done. I have even packed a pair of jeans because I'm determined to have lost all of the weight I've gained by the time I come home. I'm with Saila in her room. We're talking about things. She's excited that I am there and I excited to be immersing myself in another culture, another life. She opens a closet and inside are shelves of dolls. I realize that I had forgotten to pack any of my dolls to bring with me to Finland. I realize that I am going to need much warmer clothes as well and get another bag in which to pack some boots, some clothes for layering, etc. A friend comes over and I hand her a basket with some unshelled walnuts in it and a single ginger snap cookie. I tell her about the trip and how very excited I am to be going.
