I am watching an artist prepare for a competition when I see she is adding another layer of something, to create a textural effect. I point out to her that so far the judges have been encouraging her to do less, that whenever she adds “just one more thing” it makes the over-all effect less than what she’d intended. Although I encourage her to follow her own artistic vision, I tell her it might be a good idea to step back a minute and think about it.

Later, I join some friends at the actual exhibit and we are lying and sitting around in a large group. To my right is someone who is not feeling well. I lean across her friend who is to my immediate right and ask her what is wrong. The friend says she has a fever and I reach over to touch her. She is warm but she insists she already took something. I ask her what she took and she says “ubin.” I don’t know what that is but I dismiss it and tell her that I have acetaminophen at home and will go get some right away and bring it to her. She doesn’t argue. (The dream ended before I actually went to get her anything.
