My class and I are excited because we are going to Italy for a school trip. Then the teachers announce that, instead of leaving school for the day, we are all going to just hang around and wait until it’s time to go to the airport. I point out that I haven’t packed my make-up or other things like shampoo and such. It quickly becomes apparent I am not the only one so the teachers tell us we can all go home and get whatever else we need but we have to hurry back. I head home and my mother and Larry are both there, disappointed in me over something. I don’t have time but I am taking longer than I should as I go through my things, choose what I need most. I put everything in a small make-up bag, including a travel size shampoo and conditioner, and notice a broken rouge that is making a mess in my bag. I start trying to clean it out without emptying the bag altogether, wondering why I’m taking bronzer and noticing I don’t have my liquid liner. I don’t think I have enough time to look for it and decide to buy eyeliner in Italy. I go out of the bathroom and start looking for a book to take with me on the trip. I find one and leave to go meet my friends where we agreed we would all meet before heading to the airport. They are not there. I think maybe they went to my place to look for me but they are not there either and my mother points out that I’ve missed the flight. I look at the time and she’s right; I have missed the scheduled flight. I try to tell my mother that my friends left without me and she says it’s my fault that I didn’t make it in time and she doesn’t blame them for not waiting for me. I am frustrated but then I see one of my classmates and they (male? female?) tell me that the flight was delayed and I can still make it. I’m surprised and delighted and get ready to go meet my class at the airport so we can all go to Italy.
