Marc and Joe excitedly want to show me something and lead me to a gorgeous shower they have designed using exquisite tiles in shades of peacock, turquoise, lapis lazuli, sapphire, and other shades of luscious blues, like something out of a Tiffany window. I am marveling at its structure, with its arches and decadent design. I ask and they tell me that Joe did most of the design although Marc paid for most of the material and that they worked together to construct it. I suggest to Joe he should consider a job in interior design because he has such a clear eye for these things but Erin doesn’t want him to do it because she’s worried that he’ll be perceived as homosexual. I talk to Erin, explaining that there’s a large world beyond the boundaries of her town and the state of Georgia where people don’t judge others by their careers and that Joe should do whatever makes him feel happy and fulfilled, regardless of how others might perceive his choices.
