A mutual friend tells me that Love is about to have one of her songs featured on a CD compilation of "the Best of the Best." The friend is telling me this not because she is happy for Love but because she's hoping that by telling me I'll be hurt or jealous. And it's working because Love isn't as committed to this as I am, that I should be the one who is recognized because she's only doing what she is because it's fun and she wants the popularity implied in becoming famous while I pretentiously claim that I am doing these things becasue I have a passion, a love, a drive to do . . . what? Write which has nothing to do with what she is doing by recording a CD. So I go to Rob and, as he is driving, I start to tell him about Love, about what she is doing, and how she is being included in this CD. He takes it all calmly but I am just baffled by his response. How can he not be more frustrated when she's doing something he's been working hard to do with his band for years? He should be involved in producing a CD like this and Love shouldn't be having this success without putting in any of the work Rob has put in.
