A friend of mine introduces me to her brother, Rico, who is very slender, dark, the type of man I normally find very attractive. He is obviously immediately attracted to me and even though I am involved in another relationship the two of us choose not to deny our mutual feelings. Later, several weeks, we are hanging out in his bedroom although it is quite clear that we have not yet consumated our relationship, he is showing me his calendar book in which he shows me the note "Call Grace." Grace is his nickname for me and he is showing me the date when he first mustered up the courage to finally call me. I am delighted, leaning over him to see where else my name shows up in his book, my fingers seeking out a gap where I can touch flesh instead of shirt. He gives me a kiss, saying he has to leave but he'll meet up with me later. I am disappointed because I do want to see our relationship move forward but I know he has things he has to do. I leave and later I run into his sister, my friend, who suggests I join her and some friends who are going to some local restaurant/bar/pub place to play team trivia. I agree to go and then ask her, rather obviously and aware that I am being obvious, if Rico will be there. She says he probably will be, knowing that I will be there regardless but that I also want to see him any chance I get. Later, I return to where Rico lives but he is not there. His friend is there, hanging out, and says that Rico will be back later but that I can wait. I decide to do that and the two of us go outside to wait. Rico's friend starts to tell me that when he first met me he was very attracted to me but that he knew I was in a relationship and didn't want to intrude. Then he tells me about this other girl he met and how adoring she is. I can see in his face and hear in his voice how very deeply he cares about her. He says something about Rico being so good for me and with me, something about Rico's affection for me, which makes me wonder more where Rico is and why he hasn't come home yet. While waiting I see a mutual friend go by and I try to get his attention but, because he doesn't seem to notice me, I have to reach out and grab the hem of his shirt. He pauses, looks down at me, but doesn't recognize me. He gives me one of those vague looks, acknowledges me with a dismissive "hey there" before leaving me confused by his not recognizing me.
