I am in a library when I pull down
Roots by Alex Haley. I tell Rob, who is standing beside me, that I read the book because I did not have a television at the time that the mini-series came on television and I wanted to know what everyone was talking about. There is a young man standing in the same row of shelves as we are and he says that he considers
Roots to be the most inspirational book he's ever read, a turning point in his life. I tell him that I never read the other book Haley wrote about his family.
