A couple of guys say something offensive and I decide to attack them, using my textbooks.  The books fall apart and I realize that I may have shot myself in the foot.  Without my textbooks, how can I study for the exam?  I go to the administrative office, ask for another set of textbooks, explaining that the two boys were sexually harassing or being misogynistic or something like that.  I was merely protecting women but I used the books I need to pass the exam. Unfortunately, those were the last copies and the women behind the counter tell me I should just salvage what I can and do my best.
