I walk into an herb shop and there is a small group of women doing yoga. I sit and watch them, realizing that they are at the end of the practice. I watch the teacher close their time together and still hang back as the women each rise to leave, saying their goodbyes, and quietly leaving the shop. I approach the teacher, who is also the shop owner. I explain that I would like to join the class as soon as I have a job. She encourages me to do so, handing me a calendar with the yoga class schedule on it. I take that and a brochure she also hands to me. One is on the chakras and she urges me to work on my heart chakra. I ask her about the yoga studio that has just opened up across the street. She dismisses it, saying that she has had classes long before yoga became popular and she will still be teaching yoga after it is not longer chic to do so. I thank her and leave.
